With Sirius XM satellite radio company on a quest to raise its number of subscribers, the network is going after the younger crowd that is hip to Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch. Traditionally offering either table top or car based satellite radio solutions, Sirius XM recently unveiled an accessory built for Apple’s products, the XM Skydock, that it hopes will bring a fresh wave of customers to its service. Apple stores will be carrying the product which is priced at a cool $120 per unit and expected to sell quite well with those who want a wider array of music and talk radio choices.

The Skydock offers a range of features that consumers have long demanded and provides an alternative to having to buy after market devices that might not function at the same level of integrity as those approved by Apple. When users plug their iPhone into the Skydock and then connect it to the cigarette lighter of their car, they will be able to hear their music through their car’s speakers. With a $13 per month subscription, consumers will have access to a wide range of content from the network that just might give iTunes something of a run for its money.

Since its earliest days, the iPhone from corporate techno giant Apple has been one of the easiest products on the market to use, especially when it comes to smart phones. The fact is, other products have not been able to keep up with the level of innovation that Apple is constantly pushing itself to and this means that the makers of those products have never gotten anywhere near the sales record of the iPhone, especially when it comes to the global scale of the iPhone’s domination. Now that the Samsung Tocco Lite is making the scene, experts think it may just be able to take a bite out of Apple’s market share because it offers something that many consumers really do love about a great smart phone design: it is incredibly simple to learn to use. This is one product that will definitely make some inroads for Samsung into the Apple driven smart phone world, but will iPhone be able to recover? It is difficult so say because the iPhone has always relied on its reputation of being feature rich with a huge range of applications.

The reduction of the learning curve is bound to make any gadget oriented product a success, but this is particularly true in the smart phone market where many are not quite as savvy with hi tech toys. These folks still need a solid phone, though, and that is precisely what the Tocco offers. It can give users a TouchWhiz touch screen that is so advanced it can determine individual handwriting. That alone is going to make the Tocco Lite be one of the main challengers to the iPhone throne.

So many people have bought the best smart phone in the world today, but the sad fact is, a huge sweeping majority of them have paid far more than they needed to. This has lead to all sorts of resentment when they found out that someone they know got a sweeter deal on the Apple iPhone than they ever knew existed. Don’t be one of the folks who misses the boat when it comes to getting a great price on either a brand new iPhone or an upgrade to a previously owned one. The fact is, today there are a huge range of different deals as retailers begin to move out certain models in order to focus on other ones, so there is a lot of opportunity for those who want to be able to get a great price on the next phone that they end up buying.

The real trick to it all is realizing that the best deals are always going to be found through sources online because this is where prices are historically lower and always so because there are much lower cost associated with doing business online. Some sites will give consumers the ability to actually compare the best deals around and really get a terrific bargain for the money and those sites are going to give all the details that might be handily overlooked by an employee in a shop who is seeking a bit of a commission for his or herself. Don’t miss this chance to save.

Consumers have lovingly embraced Apple’s iPhone for several years now, making it the hottest smart phone on the market in record time. The user friendly interface and strong capabilities of the phone have made it a very popular device with every demographic from teens to business professionals to soccer moms. Apple’s dominance in the market place may be facing some extensively strong competition in the future, however. With the arrival of the long awaited Nokia n900, the mobile internet browsing community now has an extra choice with a very large screen and a great deal of processing power which threatens the stakes that Apple has so firmly entrenched in its new market. The fact that the n900 will now be capable of running the Fennec mobile browser further strengthens Nokia’s offering and gives Apple a competitor which just may be strong enough to take a serious bite out of its market share.

This, coupled with the fact that Nokia is not the only phone coming onto the market now is making the execs of Apple a understandably nervous about their current position. While consumers often favor the underdog, the iPhone has a very strong grass roots fan base that is going to be exceptionally difficult to win over. The Sony Ericcson x10 is attempting to do exactly that by bringing to bear the power of Google. The new smart phone will be one of the first to make extensive use of Google’s much hyped Android operating system and with the fact that it can run at speeds of 3G+ it may make it quite difficult for Apple to keep its position, particularly when coupled with the fact that many consumers prefer the x10’s T-Mobile network over the iPhone’s traditional exclusive deal with AT&T. Only time and strategy will tell who is the victor, but consumers certainly stand to win this battle no matter which giant is hailed the king.

Google recently recorded an unusually high level of search requests of Apple’s iPhone. There has been a reported 50 times more search requests on the world’s leading search engine since the iPhone’s hit the market. “We thought it was a mistake and made our engineers check the logs again,” Google’s head of mobile operations told the Financial Times this week. Apple’s UK network partner, O2, stated that the iPhone is bringing levels of mobile internet usage that have, until now, been unheard of. Because of these levels, O2 has announced that they will launch a major trial of femtocell deployments in the UK. O2 is working in collaboration with NEC and Ubiquisys to launch the technology which is expected to improve 3G coverage when the iPhone user is indoors. The launch is expected to take place as early as the beginning of 2009.

Femtocells are designed specifically to improve the indoor mobility of 3G technology by re-routing data from the cellular networks onto wired DSL connections. This bridging will build cellular coverage from the inside out. If it proves to be successful, the trial will be offered to up to 500 users across the UK come summer. Vivek Dev, chief operation officer of Telefonica O2 in Europe stated that “Our Apple iPhone is already driving unheard-of levels of mobile internet usage, and the introduction of flat rate data tariffs is expected to increase this further. Both of these place huge capacity demands on our networks, and because so much of that usage is at home, femtocells coupled with DSL could provide an alternative capacity resource.” He stressed that the potential of this new technology could support an increased growth in the usage of data and plays a very important role in underpinning the phenomenal growth of all mobile broadband usage.
